Baseball Continues Strong Start to Conference Play

The Randall University baseball team wrapped up a three-game conference series against Hesston College by winning two of three games, improving their conference record to 5–1 on the season.

The most exciting game of the weekend came in the series opener, a wild back-and-forth offensive battle between the two conference rivals. Hesston finished with 19 runs on 20 hits, but Randall's offense continued to fight and produce runs throughout the contest in a game full of momentum swings.

Randall had several strong performances at the plate in the opener. Jett Millsap delivered a key hit late in the game with a single to left field, while Jason Carrell contributed offensively and defensively at first base throughout the contest. The Saints lineup also saw production from multiple hitters as they continued to put pressure on Hesston's pitching staff during the high-scoring matchup.

Despite offensive fireworks from Hesston, the Saints proved to have more, coming out on top 26-19 in what was one of the most exciting offensive games of the year to take an early 1–0 lead in the series.

Hesston responded in Game Two, holding Randall's offense in check in a 3–1 decision. The Larks scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning and relied on strong pitching the rest of the way to secure the win. Hesston finished with 9 hits, while Randall was limited offensively but continued to battle throughout the seven-inning contest.

Randall's pitching staff kept the Saints in the game early before the fifth inning rally by Hesston proved to be the difference.

The Saints bounced back in Game Three to secure the series victory with a strong all-around performance. Randall's pitching staff limited Hesston offensively while the defense came up with key outs late in the game to seal the win. Pitchers for Randall worked efficiently, including a strong appearance from Jett Millsap, who recorded strikeouts in relief and helped close down key innings.

Randall also received offensive contributions throughout the lineup in the finale, including a hit from Zach Henry, who singled to left-center during the game.

With the series win over Hesston, the Saints continue to build momentum early in conference play and now sit at 5–1 in conference.

Randall will next head down the road to face University of Science & Arts Oklahoma on March 17th before returning home for another conference matchup with a three-game series against Champion Christian College. The two teams have already met once this season at the NCCAA Division II Invitational, where Champion Christian narrowly edged Randall 8–7 in a tightly contested game.
