Game 1 - The Saints took home a 4-2 victory over Arlington Baptist in game one on Saturday.
The Saints got things moving in the first inning, when Jace Elliott grounded out, scoring one run.
In the top of the third inning, Arlington Baptist tied things up at two. Arlington Baptist scored two runs when Cody Burkhalter doubled.
The Saints pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Zach Clarkson singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Ryan Sanchez pitched the Saints to victory. The ace lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out five and walking one.
Clay Hayen took the loss for Arlington Baptist. Hayen surrendered four runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three.
Clarkson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Saints in hits.
Game 2 - Cache Garrett drove in five on three hits to lead the Saints past Arlington Baptist 6-2 in game two on Saturday. Garrett drove in runs on a single in the second, a double in the third, and a single in the fifth.
The Saints captured the lead in the second inning. Dallas Cox drove in one when he singled to left field.
The Saints took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Garrett doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.
Evan Kating was the winning pitcher for the Saints. The hurler went six and a third innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out one. Zach Clarkson threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen to shut the game down.
Garrett Price took the loss for Arlington Baptist. The hurler allowed eight hits and six runs over six innings, striking out six.
Garrett went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Saints in hits.
Kating and Elliot both had exceptional careers for the Saints. Kating's start on the bump was the 33 of his career as he finished the season off with a 5.06 ERA. Elliott led the Saints in home runs this season hitting one against ABU and one against DCU. Elliott has been a dual-threat his entire career as he was a weekend starter and the day one catcher for the Saints. Both are soon graduating and starting the next chapter in their lives.
