MOORE, Okla. - Randall Volleyball has a lot of new faces this season, beginning with new Head Coach Sarah Rhodes. Coach Rhodes comes to Randall from Central Christian College of Kansas, and is excited to be a Saint. "It's been a really great transition for me so far, and I'm really excited to be here."
Her excitement is justified the moment you see returner, and only Senior, Kristen Macy play. Macy was a first team All-American last season, and one of the more dominant players you'll ever see at this level. Aside from bringing back her devastating kills at the net, Macy is providing great leadership for her young teammates. "I'm really excited about the leadership Kristen is showing so far this preseason." Said Coach Rhodes. "As the only Senior she has a lot of responsibility and she is more than living up to it so far." Macy looks to lead a team with only 3 returners.
Sophomore Setters Erika Styne, and Lynsey Moniz join Macy on a team with 7 Freshmen. Thankfully, there is a lot of talent in that bunch. Tiera Misuraca is a Freshman Outside Hitter from Mustang, OK. Coach Rhodes raves about her talent, and what she brings to the team as an Outside Hitter. Freshman Maegan Plunk is another newcomer that Saints fans should look forward to watching this season. Plunk is a Defensive Specialist, who is an extremely hard worker, and is known for her great eye on the court, an excellent skill to have at her position.
There are a lot of great opponents on the schedule, but Coach Rhodes highlighted Manhattan on October 20 as a match the team is very much looking forward to. "They are our rivals here at Randall. Manhattan is who we know we have to beat to get to nationals, along with Arlington, so it will be a good test of where we are at, and what we need to work on. Our goal is to make some noise at the national tournament this year, so that will be a great opportunity to show who we are as a team."
The season kicks off on August 22nd with a doubleheader on the road at Southwestern Christian. The first home game isn't until September 9th at Randall University, and available to stream on rusaints.com.
